Iberian adventure part two

So after leaving behind the continent of Africa, I arrived in Seville and came across my favourite Spanish city. It was a cool mix of modern, old, Spanish, Moorish, and gothic styles. Its little details of patterned-tile street names, the flamenco dresses, the different architecture, and the people made for a combination to love! Starting off with a walking tour, I checked out “the mushroom" that the locals hate. It was built only a few years ago as a major shade structure. During construction,  workers uncovered an ancient city while excavating so they made a museum under its floor. It was kinda weird, but, it added to the fun details of the city. Then through the streets to the Jewish quarter, cathedral, and the Alcazar (an old Muslim palace turned Catholic-based palace for the new world royals.)
The next day I also got to visit the “Plaza de Espana”! Built originally for a world expo in 1928 it is a grand red building adorned with colourful tiles, all divided into settings representing the areas of Spain! Very beautiful.
Next stop, Portugal! I started in Lagos for 2 nights getting a deeper tan and enjoying the ocean. Kayaking through the nearby caves, enjoying the nightlife, and relaxing by the pool with a nice view. It is more of a tourist hub so don't expect much raw culture, but enjoyable just the same.
Next I headed to Lisbon, after a quick stop in Sintra. Visiting the Quinta da Regaleira – an “Addams Family”-looking mansion surrounded by very odd designed gardens, a chapel, and waterfalls. There are mazes of wells under the park connecting the different places of the estate include the “initiation well" that represents the connection between this life and the next.
Ending my adventure in Lisbon, were streets lined with tiled facades, trams, and Fado restaurants (Fado is a traditional singing). It was beautiful. Portugal used to be very powerful in the day of exploration, so there was a lot of reference to the explorers of the time! I didn't miss the Belem tower, Jeronimos Monastery, and time square markets! This was another favourite location of mine.
My last few days in Portugal, then to start my next journey in South America! I’ll miss Europe!
